Turmeric Beauty Benefits
- softens the skin and reduces swelling (and puffiness!)
- Turmeric is high in antioxidants that slow down cell damage.
- It’s widely used as a skin exfoliant and improves skin’s texture.
- It helps with inflammatory skin conditions, such as acne, dry skin, psoriasis and eczema.
- It helps reduce pigmentation and even out the skin tone.
- It is also said to diminish the appearance of wrinkles.
You’ll Need:
3 tsp gram (besan) flour (or chickpea flour, regular flour, or finely ground oats which is good for oily or acne-prone skin)
1 ½ Tbsp ground Turmeric Powder
5 drops of your favorite beneficial oil (almond, avocado, grapeseed oil etc)
3-4 tsp milk (add more to get that paste consistency) – (you could substitute this with yogurt, cream or sour cream)
Will It Stain My Face?
From my personal experience, no it didn’t stain my face, all I got was a glowing, brightened face. However, lots of turmeric powder are not created equal. Thus, to enhance the impression of better quality, lot of these spices contain artificial dyes and these colorants caused the stain. So, make sure to stick to genuine turmeric powder to avoid the nasty yellow stains, as the artificial counterparts are known to produce these undesirable side-effects.
As a precaution considering everyone’s skin behaves differently, do a patch test on a less noticeable area however, if the turmeric stained your skin, you can wipe it off with a warm cloth after rubbing castor oil or olive oil.
The Result?
The results will be a more smother skin, even complexion, less acne redness and swelling, as well as a small amount of softening of the appearance of wrinkles (used twice a week, it could diminish those wrinkles even more).
