make ur own liquid foundation

There’s no doubt, mineral powder is my bff but there are occasions that a good liquid foundation at my beck and call can be useful. My skin tends to be on the oily side so I tried to experiment with a fuss-free recipe for a liquid foundation using mineral powder and I got hooked. I remember my cousin used to mention that she occasionally integrates sun block lotion along with her mineral foundation, that makes it much easier to work with, isn’t it? But that’s a different story.
Anyway, this recipe is so easy to make and you only need to grab 2 ingredients like a facial oil and of course, your mineral powder.

Decide Which Facial Oil Works Best For Your Skin

This is somewhat tricky as not all people favor the idea of applying oil on their own skin hence, choosing the correct one is truly important. I cooked up mine using Tamanu oil OR Jojoba oil and made me a new convert on this method. However, using almond or olive oil works well too, it all depends on how your skin reacts.

Why Tamanu Oil?

    • It is a strong anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antimicrobial, antibiotic and antioxidant
    • helps cells regenerate more quickly
    • Has been found to fade scars (and apparently stretch marks too) with incredible results.
    • Treats skin conditions such as common rashes, acne, and eczema
    • Contains lots of fatty acids
    • Contains high content of calophyllic fatty acid, an anti-inflammatory that is said to reduce signs of aging and relieve puffiness around the eyes
    • Is ideally pH balanced at 4.11
    • Has a low level of comedogency (pore clogging) or irritability, and is safe for use on oily, acne-prone or sensitive skin in this type of application.

Bringing It To A Smooth Paste

Put some mineral powder into the mixing container and add few drops of facial oil of your choice (like Tamanu, Almond, Coconut, Jojoba oil etc.) and blend altogether . The trick in mixing the dry ingredient with a liquid is to add the oil gradually so the mixture will become a smooth paste and not too oily. Add one drop of your chosen essential oil and stir again (this isoptional ).
Once you’re done mixing, you can use a sponge or foundation brush (I just used my fingers) and apply the mixture to your face. Finish your liquid makeup with another layer of translucent powder or setting powder if needed.
