Popped a Pimple? – Learn How to Deal With the Red Welt Aftermath

Sometimes we need to do the best we can to mitigate the effects of an unfortunate situation, such as dealing with redness and swelling after popping a pimple. To be perfectly honest, this is not something that we can’t predict because popping the pimples is a mistake in the first place.
What we should do is to leave them alone until the body removes pimples naturally, but then again we all know how tempting it is to get rid of them before they are due. Whatever form a zit takes, you might be tempted to squeeze it into oblivion. Resist!
But you’ve popped and drained your zit and there’s nothing you can do about it. What is done is done and you are left with the after-effects and if you don’t take further precautions, you could end up with a skin infection — and scars which is more hideous than the original whitehead.

What To Do After You Popped A Pimple?

1

newPostLabel_InstructionsIce Cubes - Assuming you couldn’t help it but to pop a pimple and notice redness soon after, help yourself to an ice cube and gently rub it all over the affected area in circular motion for around 3 minutes . Low temperature has a beneficial effect on the red and swelling skin and by performing circular moves, you can hope to mitigate the effects.

2

newPostLabel_InstructionsGreen Tea - If swelling is persistent and the ice cube had no effect on it, give green tea a try because it has a two-pronged effect in reducing swelling while soothing pain. A regular teabag soaked in warm water should do the trick and in most cases the effects are immediate and you won’t have to rush to the pharmacy to purchase any medicine. These homemade remedies are inexpensive and get the job done quickly so if you couldn’t resist the temptation of popping pimples use them in confidence.

3

newPostLabel_InstructionsNeosporin – If you didn’t follow the unofficial popping rules, and you ended up with a bloody mess, try treating the zit like the wound that it now is. After following the first two post-pop tips, dab on some Neosporin to kill the lingering bacteria, because this is one of the side effects of popping pimples, and cover with a Band-aid overnight. Don’t make a habit of this; it’s just for this one wound. You wouldn’t want these tiny creatures to cause infections, so deal with them promptly.

4

newPostLabel_InstructionsGreen Clay - After applying acne medicine like Salicylic Acid or Benzoyl Peroxide on the blemish area, wait until the medicine is fully absorbed and you can apply a glob of clay mask. Wash this off with cool water after 15 or 20 minutes. Repeat this process for the next few nights until the blemish starts to become flatter and smaller.

At that point, you must leave it alone. To prevent a “dark mark” it is imperative that you use sunscreen every day no matter what the weather because sun exposure makes dark marks darker !! You can also use an antioxidant serum with vitamin C to prevent darkening and promote healing.
