painkillers already r there at u r home
In many ways, we don’t really need much advice because we already know basically what we should do:
- Eat a variety of foods, especially whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.
- Minimize candy, soda and other empty calories.
- Watch how much we eat.
- Do some physical activity every day.
As a nation, we are increasingly eating more processed foods. Our supermarkets are full of convenient packaged foods that appeal to our taste buds, but compromise our nutrition. In addition, we are eating less variety of foods. Ironically, while 17,000 new products are introduced each year, two-thirds of our calories come from just four foods: corn, soy, wheat, and rice.Pie chart showing two-thirds of the calories we consume come from corn, soy, rice, and wheat.
Nor is our food the same as it was 20 years ago. Nutrients in the soil have been depleted, so food grown in that soil has fewer nutrients. Chemicals are increasingly used in raising both plants and animals, particularly on huge industrial farms that specialize in a few products.
Nor is our food the same as it was 20 years ago. Nutrients in the soil have been depleted, so food grown in that soil has fewer nutrients. Chemicals are increasingly used in raising both plants and animals, particularly on huge industrial farms that specialize in a few products.
It is easy to fall into the pattern of eating fast, convenient, prepared food, especially in our often frenetic lives. But we are not nurturing ourselves by doing so. Our Standard American Diet (it’s SAD, get it?) lacks nutrients and relies heavily on processed foods that include artificial color, additives, flavorings, and chemically-altered fats and sweeteners.
Our fast foods remove us from the pleasures of creating and savoring a wonderful meal, and our fast pace often prevents us from connecting over a good, slow meal. We tend to eat for convenience and speed, not health and pleasure. No wonder it’s so easy for you to overeat like a mother fucker! (Yeah, I’m talking about you. Well, there’s a very high chance I am considering 69% of Americans are either overweight or obese. 69%!!!)
So there are many reasons why we might want to pay attention to what we eat. Food is powerful stuff. Everyone has to eat. Food is not like medicine, it is medicine. We especially need to pay attention when we are sick so we can help our bodies get the nutrients we need to heal. There are many health benefits if we look at food as medicine. Here are some of the ways.
1Ginger as a Painkiller for Muscle Pain
There are plenty of pain killers out there for those suffering from muscle pain, but the good news is that ginger can be every bit as effective without the side effects. It inhibits the production of hormones responsible for triggering pain, and you only need to add one teaspoon of dried ginger or two spoons of the chopped version to your meal every day.
2Ease Toothaches with Cloves
Some of the most intense sensations of pain are produced by toothaches and if you don’t have the option of visiting a dentist right away, help yourself to some cloves. Simply chew the cloves until the pain subdues and don’t forget to add a quarter of a teaspoon on your daily meals as the active ingredient known as eugenol will help you lower cholesterol levels.
3Apple Cider Vinegar as a Remedy for Heartburns
Cider vinegar works wonders in preventing and ailing heartburns and in order to improve the right concoction you will need 8 ounces of water and 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, just drink the mixture before each meal. It contains tartaric and malic acids which push the proteins and fats breakdown into overdrive, therefore healing the heartburn in less than 24 hours.
4Fight Painful Ear Infections with Garlic
The pain caused by ear aches can be debilitating, but luckily you can get rid of it without prescription or over-the-counter drugs. Garlic oil is the solution due to its active ingredients, which fight the bacteria responsible for the infection and deal with both the causes and effects. Those who want to extract the garlic by themselves, gently simmer three cloves of crushed garlic in a half a cup of extra virgin olive oil for two minutes, strain, then refrigerate for up to two weeks. Place two drops of warm garlic oil into your aching ear twice daily for five days to clear up ear infection.
5Cherries Bring the End of Headache and Joint Pain
These wonderful fruits are rich in anthocyanins which have proven anti-inflammatory properties, that rival the effect of aspirin and ibuprofen. As a result, they are the best choice for those who suffer from joint pains and headache and don’t want to resort to conventional medicine. A daily bowl of cherries could ease your ache, without the stomach upset so often triggered by today’s painkillers.
6Tummy Troubles Vanish with Fish
Fish meat is perhaps the healthiest and also an excellent remedy for those who have tummy troubles like indigestion, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel diseases, thanks to its fatty acids. Try try munching 18 ounces of fish weekly to ease your miser. They go by the name of DHA and EPA and play an active role in dealing with cramping and intestinal inflammation, therefore eliminating or greatly reducing pain. Sardines, trout, salmon, herring and tuna are the best choice for those who don’t know what type of fish is more suitable.
7Forget about PMS by Ramping up Yogurt Intake
Premenstrual syndrome is causing a great deal of discomfort to most women every month, but the good news is that 2 cups of yogurt per day can make the symptoms go away. According to professor of gynecology Mary Jane Minkin, M.D and the researchers at Columbia University in New York, yogurt has the uncanny ability of relaxing the nervous system and alleviating the painful symptoms caused by PMS.
8Turmeric as a Remedy for Chronic Pain
Acute pain is frequently treated with painkillers but when it turns chronic, it is worth seeking natural remedies which are sustainable and don’t have side effects. This is where turmeric kicks in as Cornell researchers and nutrition researcher Julian Whitaker, M.D concluded that its main ingredient which goes by the name of curcumin is an excellent choice. To maximize the effects, those suffering from chronic pain are recommended to add a quarter of a teaspoon (1/4 tsp) of this spice daily to their meals.
9Oats Provide Relief from Endometrial Pain
A bowl of oatmeal per day can work wonders for those suffering from endometrial pain, caused by the detachment of tiny bits of uterine lining. The pain is particularly strong during menstruation, but regular consumption of oats will decrease it to bearable levels for the vast majority of women. The scientific explanation is that oatmeal are gluten-free, which is great news given the fact that this is the company that is responsible for inflammation and the subsequent pain.

10Wave Foot Pain Goodbye with Salt
Local surgeries for removing ingrown toenails are more often than one would think, but luckily there is a painless alternative to these procedures. Salt is perfect for addressing the issue of pain and swelling, with Stanford University in California suggesting that a teaspoon of salt dissolved in water and heated up to a bearable temperature can provide relief. Just keep your foot in the salty water for at least 20 min. every day to sooth the pain and get rid of the infection.

11Pineapple as a Solution for Digestive Upsets
If bloating is a major issue for you, the remedy you seek is pineapple due to its proteolytic enzymes which diligently work at breaking down the proteins responsible for stomach and small intestine pain and gas. One cup of fresh pineapple daily can cut painful bloating within 72 hours.

12Sooth Painful Muscles with Peppermint
Instead of stuffing yourself with medicine to relieve the pain caused by sore muscles, add 10 drops of peppermint oil into your daily bath. Your muscles and nerves will relax, which will in turn address the issue of muscle cramping without the side effects of painkillers.

13Eat Grapes to Alleviate Backaches
Delicious and natural, grapes are arguably the best choice if you suffer from persistent backaches, as they help in relaxing blood vessels and improving circulation. Eating a cup of grapes daily can relax tight blood vessels, significantly improving blood flow to damaged back tissues. A few hours after eating grapes, blood will flow more freely to the vertebrae and speed up the healing of damaged tissue, therefore soothing the pain.

14Find Relief from Pain Injuries with Water
A healthy lifestyle demands at least eight glasses of water on a daily basis and apparently water is also a remedy for pain. When a tissue is injured, histamine is produced and by drinking a lot of water you dilute it, which leads to pain reduction. Susan M. Kleiner, Ph.D recommends this therapy while emphasizing the importance of drinking at least 60 ounces of water per day especially if you suffer from back pain.

15Horseradish is an All-around Solution for Sinus Issues
German scientists came up with a potential solution for sinusitis which is an affliction that plagues the modern society. Without being life-threatening, it can cause a great deal of pain while preventing you from functioning at your full potential, therefore it needs to be addressed. Just one spoon of horseradish administered twice a day (either on its own, or used as a sandwich or meat topping) should be enough to alleviate the pain while dealing with the underlying cause.

16Blueberries Cleanse Bladder Infections
Not only blueberries taste delicious, but one cup of them eaten every day either in the frozen version, as a juice or fresh can clear urinary tract infections. 19Coffee Beats Migraines
If your days are constantly ruined by migraines and you have to resort to painkillers, coffee will make them more effective. National Headache Foundation scientists have concluded that it helps the stomach to assimilate them much faster, which in turns leads to a swift pain ease.

Homemade Natural Hair Gel – Pacify Unruly Hair with Herbal Styling Gels
Those who are struggling to address the issue of boisterous hair curves are sometimes getting the feeling of fighting a losing battle. In most cases this turns into a war of attrition because unruly hair will not suddenly fall into place as we grow older and it requires constant attention. It is hard to be unsympathetic with those who give up and cut it short, but fortunately there is a better and less definitive solution.
Stylists will gladly invite you to their fancy salons and commiserate, all for the sake of charging you hefty amounts for a service that only fixes the problem temporarily. Homemade remedies such as the herbal styling gel are not miraculous and will need to be applied over and over again, but they have certain benefits.
To start with, their effect lasts roughly the same as an expensive treatment at the hairstylists, but they are incomparably cheaper and won’t put any pressure on your budget.
Another benefit that sometimes evades those who are overly concerned with how to define their curls is that the cosmetic products are drenched in chemicals. The effects are not only detrimental but also irreversible and by the time you realize the problem, there is nobody to be held accountable.
By contrast, a homemade styling gel that uses only herbal ingredients will enhance the natural texture of your hair while strengthening it. Multiple applications won’t hurt in any way, quite the opposite and to top it off there are alternatives for vegans as well.
Benefits Of Using Flaxseed:
- Leaves hair soft, shiny, and moisturized
- Promotes hair growth
- Gives great curl definition
- Nourishing for the hair because it is rich in omega 3
- Gives hold with no crunch/non flaking/not drying to the hair/doesn’t cause breakage/or shedding
- Fast drying
- Great for wash n go’s/sleek styles/twists and twist outs and sets the twists once dry for a lovely twist out
- Mixes well with oils/conditioners/ many products
- All natural..organic.
- Cost effective as you can re-use the flax seeds
Defining Your Curls Or Twists With Homemade Flaxseed Gel
You’ll Need:1/4 cup flaxseed
2 cups water
4-6 drops of your favorite essential oils (optional)Strainer or Stocking sock
Tight lid container
Wooden Spoon
Step 1:
Grab 2 cups of water and pour it in the pan then add the flaxseed while heating it all up with constant stirring and let it get all gel-like consistency, not too thick but slightly watery. This way, it would be easier to strain and besides, it will thicken as it cools down.

Step 2:
In order to get the most gel from the flaxseed, just purchase those 25 cent pantie hose and a small 6 oz container and some spare tongs. Place the hose around the container and when the flaxseed is up to your boil of choice drop it in hose. Then pull off the hose (looks like a Christmas stocking) and take your tongs. Just squeeze the gel into the container until you have gotten the most you can get out.

thread eye brows
Way too often, we go to great lengths to highlight our features and our unbridled enthusiasm causes us to overdo it with devastating effects. While pursuing moderation in everything is the key for successful and happy living, there is nothing wrong in trying to enhance our natural beauty. Emphasizing the eyebrows is something that women do on a daily basis, but there are some techniques which deliver powerful results without the hefty price tag of a cosmetic treatment.
The first instinct when we hear about waxing our eyebrows is to frown because there is a certain degree of pain involved in the process. Progress and beauty sometimes require sacrifices, but if there is a way around it, then we owe it to ourselves to pursue every lead. Threading the eyebrows is something that not many women do these days, and that’s not because the technique is revolutionary or untested, quite the opposite. For centuries, women from all over the world resorted to this procedure which is neither painful nor complicated and delivers great results time after time.
If you are a fan of do-it-yourself products and don’t mind getting your hands dirty to save money and time, then you will probably love the concept. The process is less painful than waxing and the main advantage is that you don’t need to be highly experienced to achieve outstanding results. Undesired hair is pulled over in one clean sweep, which translates into less time spent implementing this beauty technique.

10 Noteworthy Beauty Hacks that will Save You Money
Acne Busting Hack
Have you ever wonder why your zits keep on coming back no matter how you spent top dollar on acne fighting remedies that don’t do much rather than drying your skin? Why not make an effort to change your pillow case regularly so you won’t be rubbing your face with the same grime and dirt from your hair and face repeatedly?
Despite the fact that my eating habits are keeping my skin mostly clear, I continue to experience some few zits around my jawline. So, I decided to go to Target few weeks ago and grabbed 7 pillow cases, which means I need to replace my pillow case every single day. I’m not sure whether it’s merely a fluke, but now I’m practically 100% clear these days.
Acne outbreaks can take place due to numerous factors which include diets and hormone imbalances. The most effective cure to prevent zits from happening is a good hygiene. Although dirt or grime alone is not necessarily the root cause of pimples, regular washing of the skin and tresses are advisable to avoid the oil deposit that result in clogged pores. On top of that, replacing your bedding and pillowcases fairly often could reduce breakouts from occurring.
Makeup Remover Hack
Rather than investing in costly eye make up remover, you can simply use your own moisturizing lotion for most eye-makeup removal needs, even the water-proof ones. So, the next time you ran out of makeup remover, grab some moisturizer and apply it generously on your face and let it sit for a minute and wipe it off with cotton pad or a washcloth before rinsing thoroughly. Or you can use baby shampoo or olive oil as one of the alternatives that work the same job.
Lotion Hack
Coconut oil is very popular nowadays as more people are raving about it. It works amazing as a body moisturizer, and been verified to cure psoriasis, eczema and even serious dry skin. Put the kibosh on putting too much money in buying lotion to dehydrate your skin as coconut oil does the same thing. I love using coconut oil after shower. For my concoction, I added few drops of grapefruit oil and apply them to my skin. It makes my skin soft and smooth.
Body Wax Hack
Waxing is quite expensive particularly if you are getting the entire shebang from top to bottom. I am sure some women prefer to wax at home and some of us are not brave enough to perform this out of fear. You can pay for fancy body waxes or you can hack this sugaring Epilation recipe or Body Hair Removal recipe here.. Its almost painless compared with other traditional solutions.
Face Mask Hack
Grab some raw honey and spread it on your face and let it sit for 10 -20 minutes. Honey is a great humectant therefore, it’s good in retaining moisture in our skin aside from that, it is a gentle disinfectant.
It is also a good exfoliant because honey includes gluconic acid that acts as a mild alpha hydroxy acids, these harmless acids enable to ease the bonds between dead skin cells thus making it less difficult to remove the layer. Plus, these kind of acids boost skin elasticity, increase collagen production and stabilize oily skin leaving you a more youthful look.
Face Toner Hack
Loaded with antioxidants, along with vitamins C and E, green tea is a fantastic skin toner and anti-irritant. Probably the most well-known non-alcoholic drinks worldwide, green tea could also soothe sunburn or irritated skin.
How to: Bring water to a boil and brew 2 green teas, allowing them to steep for around 3 minutes and squirt some lemon and a pinch of fresh mint ( this is optional but it helps fight pimples), then store in the fridge. Transfer the rejuvenating spritz mixture to a mister bottle and spritz onto your face. Do not rinse off.
Hair Dye Hack
Opt out on expensive and toxic hair dyes and go all natural with your favorite tea! Here’s a handy guide to type and the color it will bring out in your locks.
Foot Exfoliating Hack
Maybe things are tough all over and your feet need a facial. Grab some potatoes and cut it in halves and dip it in sea salt and you have a hacked pumice stone. Now get scrubbing! Wash it off with warm water and your feet will look like new.
Face Cleanser Hack
Grab your powdered milk and place it in a container. Gradually, add lukewarm water while mixing it with your finger or a stirrer. We need to create a consistency of a paste rather than runny so make sure to slowly add the water.
Apply the paste on your freshly washed face and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes and use a wash cloth to rinse off with warm/tepid water. Once your face is totally cleaned devoid of milk residue, splash your face with cold water to close your pores back in. You can follow it up with witch hazel toner or your favorite moisturizer.
Shaving Hack
Use cheap hair conditioner as shaving cream. This hack worked great for me as my legs were smooth and there was no razor burn to boot. Shaving cream creates a layer between the razor and your skin while protecting from nicks and cuts. Conditioners work just as well and they moisturize while you shave.
home made natural wipes
Some wise guy said a century ago that freedom is necessity understood, and more sympathetic I cannot be. I know that nobody forces me to apply makeup every day, but then again the very thought of leaving house without it gives me shivers down my spine. I don’t particularly dislike makeup, but what I don’t really enjoy is taking it of time after time, still I don’t complain too much about the process itself.
Spending a lot of money on makeup remover wipes that do nothing more than to undo all my efforts doesn’t sound as fair and is particularly frustrating. The moment I understood that complaining about this reality won’t help, I began searching about alternatives to expensive commercial products. I’m proud to announce that a do-it-yourself makeup wipes will save you money and even time, because you can make a lot of them in one short session.
Don’t be afraid about the effects, because removing makeup will not take longer and there is not even the slightest sign of discomfort. Even if you were used with the top-of-the-line products, a couple of paper towels with baby wash, coconut oil and some purified water will meet your expectations. I got so hooked on these homemade makeup remover wipes that I have to admit that I have my bag packed with them and I use them whenever the opportunity appears. The truth is that you can never have too many refreshing wipes on you, and they can do much more than remove makeup.
You’ll Need:
Microwaveable bowl
Purified water or distilled water (to inhibit the growth of mold)
Coconut oil
Tear-free baby wash
Container with a lid that snaps into place
Roll of paper towels
Utility knife
Tip: I added some Tea Tree Oil on this batch because of its anti-fungal/anti-bacterial properties and so far, no mold as of yet and its almost two weeks!
Also, if you have some issue with the coconut oil becoming slightly solid in spots when the container has been in a room that is cooler than its melting point, I usually try to rub the oil back into the wipes and the warmth of my fingers melts it up again.
1In a microwaveable bowl, mix 2 cups of purified water, 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, and 2 squirts of baby wash.
Warm the mixture in the microwave for a few seconds and stir. Now you’re ready for the “wipe” part of the project!
2Measure the paper towels to fit into the container and cut them width-wise with a sharp knife to fit.
3Place the roll into the container and pour your makeup remover mixture over it.
Replace the lid and turn the container over to soak. Leave for five minutes, then turn it over and remove the cardboard center.
4Cut a small “X” in the lid to pull the wipes through.
That’s it! Store according to your laziness level.

how to pack a makeup bag
Make no mistake: there is a definite art to packing the perfect makeup bag. If you’re like us, you prefer not to leave the house without a few basics for mid-day touch-ups or in-flight primping. Unfortunately, deciding between products can be a challenge, especially if you plan to create a few different makeup looks from one kit. Here are some quick tips to master the packing essentials: what you need, what won’t weigh your purse down and what to skip.
1. Plan ahead: Unless you’re a budding YouTube beauty guru or celebrity makeup artist, most of us end up using our same favorite products repeatedly for our daily “look”. Think about what you use everyday and give top priority to these staples. Eyeliner, mascara, a nude lipstick, whatever they may be – set these aside first. If you have space afterwards then throw in that fun lip color, a bronzer or a great eyeshadow so you can switch up your look if you want.
2. Embrace the multi-taskers: Benefit’s “Benetint,” the famed Nars “Laguna/Orgasm” blush and bronzer palette: they’re classics for a reason. If cutting down on space is your goal, look for products that serve two purposes and leave you with room in your kit. For example, a cheek stain in a flattering coral or rose can double as a lip tint, leaving room for eye products.
3. Invest in to-go brushes: There’s no reason to cram full-sized makeup brushes into a smaller travel bag. The bristles will end up crushed, and those heavy handles add unnecessary weight. Leave these brushes on your vanity at home for morning application and invest in a quality travel set, like this Bobbi Brown collection, for the road.
4. Shrink your bag: Another tip for conserving space is to replace your staple products with their more petite versions. Take your favorite perfume for example, many brands offer a roller-ball tube size rendition of their standard larger bottle, allowing you to have your signature scent no matter where you’re headed. Also, the next time you go to your favorite beauty counter to replace your foundation, ask for samples in your shade (perfect for when you’re going through airport security). By packing your products sensibly you’ll be ready for any adventure.
5. Know what you love: Sometimes there’s no magic do-it-all product that works for your lifestyle. If it’s worth it to tote around three travel sized products and two full-sized ones that you absolutely love, than do it, because what makes sense for you is really what matters!

4 Homemade Remedies For Split Ends
Split ends…those feathery tips that make hair look dull and messy – is one nuisance that most of us experience no matter how you treat well your hair.. of course, aside from having coarse textured hair. If you are one beauty addicts who love experimenting different types of tools and new hair products, your hair is presumably exposed to some nasty chemicals that alter the natural protein bonds in your hair, causing them to look brittle and lifeless.
I used to grow my hair longer that’s why I despise the regular hair trimming but glad that I’ve found some simple do-it-yourself remedy that you can prepare using ingredients that mostly available in the kitchen.
Obviously, the best antidote is a constant trim, but there are solutions that you can do to temporarily heal frays or prevent them.
1Egg and Avocado Treatment
This is one of my favorite hair mask as avocado is loaded with proteins and Vitamins (especially Vit E) that are essential to repair, nourish and hydrate damaged, lackluster hair. Olive oil is known as a great moisturizer that attracts and seal the moisture that treat split ends and brings your hair back to life. While egg the whites will seep into the hair, making your hair follicles stronger and healthier. In addition, the nutrients found in egg whites work much like conditioners to add shine, texture and volume.
Ingredients:1 avocado, pitted and skinned1 egg white3 tablespoons olive oil
Puree the avocado in a blender and mix with olive oil and the egg whites until you obtain a creamy consistency like conditioner. Apply the mixture to each section of your hair, cover with a shower cap and let sit for 30 – 45 minutes. Shampoo and rinse thoroughly and style as usual.
2Papaya Pack
Papaya is filled with amino acids and proteins that help restore hair’s natural shine and softness while removing build up and residue from cleansing products and chemicals. Yogurt is rich in lactic acid, and has natural antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that works to stimulate hair growth and fight dandruff by acting as a natural cleanser that tightens and clarifies the pores on your scalp.
Ingredients:1 papaya, de-seeded and skinned1 cup plain yogurt
Grab your de-seeded and skinned papayas as well as the yogurt and throw them in a blender to make a puree or until you obtain a smooth consistency. Apply the mixture to your hair, and cover with a shower cap and let it sit for 30 – 45 minutes. Wash off the mixture and rinse thoroughly.
3Beer Rinse
So now you have all the reason to stock up for the 6-packs. It may sound ridiculous but beer does delightful things for a person’s scalp as it is popular in treating dry hair. The malt nourishes and smooths your locks, while yeast fortifies your hair strands and inflate the volume.
Use a spray bottle and fill it with left over beer and spray it on your dry hair. Use a wide-tooth comb to gently comb your hair after application. This way, you will be spreading the beer onto your hair properly. Just make sure to shampoo and rinse completely to eliminate the reeks of beer scent.
4Hot Oil Treatment
Ingredients : Olive oil or castor oil or almond oil or coconut oil
This is a very popular treatment not only for hair splits but also to moisturize your hair. Warm the oil and massage your hair with it, from head to the ends. You can use any one oil or all together in equal amounts.
Make sure you let the oil cool down and apply the warm oil. Massage and then cover your hair with a shower cap for 30-40 minutes. This absorbs the nutrients, gives a smooth look to your hair and also removes spilt ends. Wash your hair properly with shampoo. Oil treatment moisturizes your dry, damaged hair.
